1.) figure out if boot menu has multiple options
a) if more than one option present:
- boot backup kernel
- revert changes
b) only one boot option
- proceed to 2.)

2.) only one boot option
a) cdrom present:
- boot from RH3 install CD1 or
- boot from SuperRescue CD or
- boot from Knoppix Rescue CD
- proceed to 4.)

b) no cdrom present:
- now this is going to be a fun ride
- proceed to 3.)

3.) no cdrom present
a) install cdrom onsite
- proceed to 4.)
b) try to boot linux from usb stick

4.) insert RH3 WS CD#1
- at the prompt hit ‘F5′ key
- enter ‘linux rescue‘ after the boot: prompt
- choose language and keyboard layout (hitting enter twice should work)
- Answer the question ‘Do you want to start the
network interfaces on this system’ with ‘No‘.
- Answer the next question with ‘Continue'
- Answer ‘OK

A shell opens, now enter the following commands:

# cd /mnt/sysimage/boot/
# cp vmlinuz-2.4.21-4EL.stock vmlinuz-2.4.21-4EL
# reboot
